Premiere pro - avi imported as audio

When importing any .avi video (I've tried 4 different files) they are imported as audio only. This is a problem as I'd rather not find a converter right now (internet is capped) and I need this done soon. I've found that .mpg files work well. So I'm not sure what the problem is. The .avi files themselves are fine in media players. Has someone had this same problem and what can be done to fix this?

I would recommend "any video converter". It's a free program that can convert multiple movie files at once. As far as your import problem is concerned, I need to know a little bit more about what your trying to use the files for. For examples, if you are using them in a power point presentation, you would need to convert them to .wmv format so they would play. Hope my advice helped.
