I tried sharing a folder using sharing and security on 'Computer A' by right clicking the folder that I want to share and then click sharing and security. When I reach a page where it is under a Sharing tab, I checked(or select) the "Share This Folder" option and set the permission for Everyone to "Full Control" and click apply and OK on both windows. When I go to 'Computer B' under "My Network Places" to access the folder that I have shared using 'Computer A', I couldn't gain access to it even though I have set full control. It displays:
\\(name)\\(folder I want to share) is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
The network name cannot be found.

try only having one slash after the system name.
example: \\system\folder

That method doesn't work mine was always single slash instead of double. Could the problem lies in the IP address, router or any physical networking equipment? One of the computer is using wireless connection and both are windows xp pro.

Go to the properties of your network cards and make sure that file and printer sharing is checked.
