$Data resident in MFT file entries.

Win XP Home SP.3+

I've found that in my installation the maximum resident file size is 744 bytes, can anyone advise if this is the same on their install and/or if this can be increased please?

Typically, people who are interested in resident data in MFT entries are forensic investigators, and possibly, people who are seeking to avoid their attention. I am curious to know why do the OP wants or needs to know this.

You'll have to answer that question yourself.

Forensic investigator? not knowledgeable enough for that.  Something to hide? unfortunately not.   No ulterior motive, just want to know.  Thanks for the link.

The amount of data which fits is highly dependent on the file's characteristics, but 700 to 800 bytes is common in single-stream files with non-lengthy filenames and no ACLs.
