Please help. I spent 6 hours today trying to figure out why 95% of the time when I try to open Firefox it won't load, and if it does, it takes 15-20 minutes to load (I don't know if this means anything but when Firefox is not loading and I hit ctr+alt+delete under applications it shows nothing but under processes it shows Firefox and under the CPU column it shows a number that varies between 50 and 99 and the memory usage shoots up between 90,000k and 130,000k. It only runs at about 80,000k or so when Firefox actually loads) I ran my anti-virus/anti-spyware program 3 times and I had no viruses and only had 14 pieces of spyware, all that were low risk and were removed. I removed and downloaded Firefox 3 times. Now this only started happening yesterday (11/20) before hand it worked perfectly. I haven't gone to any new websites or downloaded anything out of ordinary.

What process is the main CPU taker?

Your computer may still be infected.

Thanks for the links, I am going to follow the steps tomorrow and I let you know how things turn out. I apologize for this question but what do you mean by what process is the main CPU taker?

In "Processes" tab, which process is listed as using the most of CPU cycles?

Have you tried running FireFox safemode ? ?
It's found under Start/All Programs/Mozilla FireFox...

This will tell us whether you have a corrupt profile or not.

Did you perform clean install: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_Firefox ?
It's very important in case of problems like yours.
