... Do you want to activate your antivirus software now??  Also a box randomly pops up saying:

ANTIVIRUS software alert.  Infiltration alert.  Your comp is being  attacked by an internet virus....

I followed the steps on this post and here is my feedback:

http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,46313.msg545905.html#msg545905

Step A

I have AVG 7.5.  I tried downloading the 9.0 upgrade.  It begins to download and disappears in the completed download box.

I looked in my Programs to uninstall whatever was necessary.  One one: viewpoint media player, but it wouldn't let me uninstall it anyway.

I can't download the CCleaner (disappears), or SuperAnti Spyware.  I don't want to uninstall AVG or Java until I'm able to download newer versions.

Can you please help??  Please let me know!!  Thank you!!

you can re-name hjt to snipper.exe
you can re-name mbam.exe to mbam2.exe

if they do not run

I attempted steps 4-6.  When I download MBAM and HJT, a box pops up that reads:

Opening HJTInstall.exe

You have chosen to open

(shows a box icon) HJTInstall.exe
which is a: Binary File
from http://www.trendsexure.com

Would you like to save this file?

Options:  Save File or Cancel

This box appears what ANYTHING I try to download, in the exact same format with the same box icon.  When I hit Save File, it doesn't give me the option to rename it and while it's scanning it for viruses in the downloads box, I try to double click it to open it's containing folder with no luck.  Then it disappears.

I was able to install MBAM to my desktop.  I have double clicked it to run it and the application cannot be executed box pops up.  I tried to open it through RUN with no luck.

I was able to complete these steps:

    *  Close HijackThis and rename it.
    * Go to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.exe
    * Right click on HijackThis.exe and select Rename.
    * Type in sniper.exe and press Enter.
    * Right-click on sniper.exe and select Send To > Desktop (create shortcut)

.
* From the desktop open HijackThis.
* If using Windows Vista, Right-click and Run As Administrator.

Once I hit Run as admin... the application cannot be executed box came up again.

Go to this link http://evilfantasy.wordpress.com/2009/05/06/rescue-cds/ to create a Rescue CD or to this site http://evilfantasy.wordpress.com/bitdefender-rescue-usb/ to create a Rescue USB. Carefully follow all the instructions for whichever method you choose

go to a clean pc and do this

Download a boot time anti virus scanner (pick one: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rlz=1T4GGLL_enUS304US305&ei=WHFCS-DZLMW8lAeTsP2fBw&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&ved=0CAYQBSgA&q=download+boot+time+av+scanner&spell=1). Burn it to a cd and put the cd in the infected computer. Make sure the cd is at the top of the boot order in bios, then boot to the cd and run the scan.

sorry wrong one , try this
