You have not said what you've tried.

What about  - File / Page Setup / Landscape.

Are you doing this for the purpose of printing? If so, do you have a printer connected ?

No, composing a document. and then burning it on a DVD.
Printer not installed or connected. Using HP laptop.

I've been watching this thread with curiosity because I'm really not sure what you're trying to do. Please explain what it is you are trying to do and exactly what problem you are running into when you try. Thank you.

Sorry, i'm stumped. I've checked my Notepad and it changes from landscape to portrait no problem. You could try Notepad 2, free

Does your document have to be in Notepad? You could try Open Office, it's free

Printer not installed or connected.

Then portrait/landscape are meaningless. If no printer is installed, you don't get a landscape option.

I have no printer installed and can change the options.........

Me, too, but I see no print in it unless printing is the objective.  And, with Notepad, it makes no difference in how text appears in a Notepad window, while it did make a difference in WordPad.  But, again, what's the point if not printing?

I was trying to compose a letter/document with the page in the landscape position and then burn it on a DVD.
I will accept Reply # 10 to be correct since I try ed it on another laptop with Vista OS and also could not obtain landscape.
(Thank you Salmon Trout, Reply # 10)

Reply # 10 by Salmon Trout must be the correct answer.
I get the same results (no landscape) on another laptop with Vista OS.
