Author Topic: Computer makes sounds out of nowhere (Read 3373 times)

I run a thinkpad t60, winxp sp3.

Every now and then (sometimes 2-3 minutes, sometimes every 10-15 minutes) the computer will make a beeping sound that is like the "low battery alarm" (although it's connected to AC and not low...).
Also the device connect/disconnect sound goes off at least once a day, although nothing is being connected or disconnected.

Is there a way to check what program is causing the beeping? I've updated virus definitions, scanned for spyware/viruses and there are none.

Could be, I also own a Tinkpad, and mine of course beeps when i plug in or remove the power adapter. Is it the same noise? or is it very different?

It's not the plug, it happens whether it's plugged in or not, and i doubt it's overheating because it doesn't feel hot at all.

Post your computer temperatures:

Provide processor info (hold Windows logo key, and hit Pause/Break key to find out).
