Hi there!
I would really appreciate any help with my computer dilemma. I am a complete newbie in terms of computers and somehow managed to implode my father's laptop. It's an HP laptop purchased within the last year, with Windows XP O/S. I'm really not sure about any of the other specs of the computer.
The screen froze so I shut down manually, and when I restarted I got the following error "Windows cannot start up because windows/system32/c_437.nls is missing or corrupt". I searched for some advice and tried to replace the file using the XP installation CD, going into Recovery and typing EXPAND -R D:\I386\c_437.nl_ C:\WINDOWS\system32\c_437.nls and it would not work, saying that the file did not exist. I also tried EXPAND D:\I386\c_437.nl_ C:\WINDOWS\system32\c_437.nls
I really have no idea what these prompts mean and what I could be doing wrong. It seems to be a simple enough problem to fix, is there a step that I am missing?
Thanks so much for your help,
Pat
