    High CPU Usage and overheating
    « on: March 22, 2011, 06:00:54 PM »
    Hi there,

I am using Compaq Presario C700, Win 7.

I have been facing a problem of high CPU usage by System Interrupts. At times is 100 % even when i check in Resources Monitor in Task Manager. It leads to overheating and unexpected shut down.

At times when i try to start the laptop, it does not start, just a blue screen comes nothing else.

I have updated all the drivers, still have the same problem.

please help me getting this solved if possible.

    With regards,
    Ravi

What is CPU temperature at time of unexpected shutdown?

Usually, it goes the other way around.
Overheating may cause high CPU usage.

I did not notice the temp at the time of unexpected shutdown but at time its too hot that i need no heater at all.

I understand overheating causes high CPU usage but CPU usage in this case is high even after 5 mints after starting the system.

      thanks

Download System Information for Windows (SIW free version)
      No installation required.

After it scans your computer, navigate to Hardware>Sensors and post all info from there.

        Well, 81C is definitely hot.
Max temp for your CPU is listed at 100C, but you can't be getting so close with idle computer.

        How old is it?
        Still under warranty?

            Overheating does it.
Get a can of compressed air (do NOT use anything else) and clean well all vents.
Re-run SIW and see how it goes.

This is not your make & model of notebook, but this is probably what's wrong.

Core temps have dropped 20degC.  I see no info on CPU usage.
