On Installing IE9 your Internet Explorer  8 version will be upgraded to IE9 and IE9 will be installed as an update rather than as program hence it will not appear in programs list under Programs and Features.

So it looks like it will replace it.

Right.  It's not there because it is the version that came with Windows when your computer was new.  It is not a program that gets installed after Windows is installed.  Therefore, it does not appear in Features and Programs.

So when I install iE9 what will happen I don't want both versions?
When you install IE9, it will replace IE8.   You will not end up with both versions.

When he said, "I don't want both versons", I believe he means he does not want to see two versions of IE on his Programs menu and anywhere else.  And, this is the case; he would only see IE9.

IE8 will still be there only in the sense that it would reappear if IE9 is uninstalled.
