How do I send DirecTV DVR movies to my PC to record ?

I have a DirecTV DVR and I want to send the movies I've recorded on it to my computer to store or save or record to DVD so I can watch them later.  How can I do this?

Is the DVR networked to the computer? If so, there is probably software available that will expedite the transfer (I know there is for TiVo devices, which I use).
