    authui.dll faulty, logon screen missing
    « on: February 22, 2013, 02:56:49 PM »
I was trying to change my authui.dll file  to edit my logon screen, but something went wrong and my logon screen is now missing, sending me to a black screen, it is impossible to get on to my computer. What should I do? The original authui.dll files are still on my computer, I copied them just incase I wanted to change my edits back, but I can't reach them as my computer can't go past the logon screen.

Boot to safemode...open a command prompt from Start/Accessories...type in sfc /scannow and hit Enter.

I tried it, but I get the same black screen on Safe Mode as i do on Normal. Is there any other way to get to Command Prompt? (Safe Mode w/ Prompt) doesn't work either.

      Depends on which Win version.

Repeatedly tap F8 at boot up...choose the Advanced boot menu option...select Repair Install and continue...
Do NOT interrupt it ...even if it seems to hang...
