Windows networking is, at its best, frustrating.
For a home user, the best trick is to just start over.
Do the whole network wizard thing again on both computers. Don't forget that you have to restart both machines and wait a bit for them to find each over.
Also, you have to have at least one folder on each computer with sharing on.
Do not try to share an entire drive.
Instead, something like My Pictures is a good choice.

Here is one way  to simply things.
Have at least two user accounts on each computer with administrator level
On PC-1 the two users could be:
        race
        sand
They can  have  the same password.

On PC-2 the two users could be:
        race
        sand
They can  have  the same password.

Make sure both users are active, that is, that have been  used at least once.
Sign on to one PC as sand...
sign n the other as race...
The first time you get into the network you need user name and password.
After that it becomes e automatic.

      Please tell what happens next.
      It should work.

I would also like to add that its best to give the 2 computers static IP addresses as for I have seen issues with Windows getting messed up when dynamic IP address changes etc, especially with mapped drives between systems.

Once I changed from system name\share mappings to static_IP\share mappings such as below:

      \\system_name\share$

      to

      \\Static_IP\share$

The problems I had went away after setting up Static IP's and Static Mapped Drives. I was really scratching my head as to why this was a problem when they were both on the same version of Windows 7 Home Premium, same workgroup, router, and the security settings were configured so that the firewall allowed for both systems to access each other but no others to connect to them.

I was having same issue where it would work for a while and then a few days later wouldnt work. Going Static Fixed This!!!!

I have since changed my setup to not conflict for bandwidth with other devices in my home using the network. I installed second NICs in these 2 systems and put a cross over cable between them, since after all, i am using Static IP addresses. So now I can transfer large files between 2 systems such as a 18GB video game from one system to another without affecting everyone else that is watching netflix etc.

How could that possibly simplify things?  Seems like it complicates things to me.

I think I have it fixed now (I Hope) I did have some services disabled that kept me from having network discovery on, I have since renabled them and so far so good, thanks for help!, I am trying to learn this networking thing, it is a challange to say the least.  I if I have any more issues I will be back so I won't close this now :)

        Use of names helps.
You can locate another computer my its name  by user name.
Once you do that, Windows 'remembers' who is on the network.

Why would you turn off any default services?

I turned off certain services I didn't need at the time for performance for example I wasn't using networking so I turned off services connected to that, I didn't turn them "off" I set them to manual startup, I had a pc world article about it that used. I guess the user name thing is a mystery to me because the prompt keeps coming up that asks for user name and password and it doesn't work so I think I enter wrong user name for example I use sam-pc for user name is that what I put in the user name? or is it \\sam-pc? anyway I restarted my pc today and still am having problems seeing other computer I keep getting the password prompt even though my computer shows in the homegroup list,
           ???

You cam do a search for other computers on the network. By name of user or name of PC.
BTW: You misunderstand that you must manually turn on sharing on specific folders. Right?

This differs from what you do on Windows XP, but it does about the same thing.
