2 NIC 2 Ethernet but only want one active at a time.
    « on: November 13, 2015, 11:19:20 AM »
    Hello,
I am using windows 10. I have 2 domains, both are closed networks which i wish to manage from one PC. Each domain goes to a NIC but I do not want both active at the same time. I do know that i can go in and disable one or the other NIC's manually; but is there a way to do it with software or hardware(kind of like a KVM for for your network).
    Thanks

I did a setup as a fail over that powered a switch and killed power to another switch as a gateway redirect with 3 network adapters once, switching the 2 of the 3 with one on and the other off but not both on at same time. I used this web power switch to turn on and off 5-port gigabit switches. http://www.digital-loggers.com/lpc.html

I would have a service running that would perform the switch over communications or manually perform this through a web browser remotely.

Later I found out that I could also use an automation macro on the server that when a issue was detected it would run the macro and switch it over. And bought JitBit Macro Creator which allowed me to record an action and compile it as an EXE and call it from a monitoring service to execute and perform the switch over. https://www.jitbit.com/macro-recorder/

The service I used for the switch over was http://www.downloadsource.net/1844/AlertPingPro/ in which I bought a licensed copy. On alert condition you can have it call to an EXE.

I am good for rube goldberg solutions.  ;D

Not sure if this is what your looking for or not but, I had got a RJ45 spiltter on Amazon.  I found out that it does not let you use both sides just whichever, network you are accessing
