    Problem with Wifi, Playing videos
    « on: November 22, 2015, 04:04:34 PM »
Hello y'all, I think this is the right place for this thread.

For the past couple of months, I've been having trouble playing videos and streams on my laptop when I'm connected to my wifi, but I can load websites just fine. I have Xfinity Comcast internet and I'm using the modem's wifi that they gave us. I currently have Windows 10, but I recently upgraded from 8 where the problem started. Strangely, right after I upgraded to 10, the problem stopped and I could play videos at high quality with no problems, but the problem has now come back. I originally thought there might of been a problem with my laptop's network adapter, because I've ran the troubleshooter for it many times and it always says there is a problem and it fixes it, but the problem still persists, so I'm not sure. I know it's not the internet because I've connected my laptop directly to my modem and my download speed is around 30 mbps. What's weird is that if I'm in the same room as my modem and using the wifi, it works fine, but if I just go into another room, the download speed drops to like 2. I mean, I know it will probably drop off the further away I get, but I don't think it's suppose to be that significant.

I tried to find some answers online and all I've is people saying you need to delete you cookies and cache which has done squat. So yeah I'm not sure what to do, any help is much appreciated.

From what you say, it seems the problem is mostly with your computer wireless adapter. But there are other possibilities.

Here are some things found in the Computer Hope  Archives.

Take a quick look and see if any of these relate to your problem.

Meanwhile, Here is what I personally commend to help track down the problem.
    1. Get a new or used external wireless thing for your laptop. You can disable the internal device. Here is just a few  of many cheep but good USB wireless things:

The ones under  $15 are just about as good as the high price ones. IMO.

    2. Find some free software that lets you do a site survey for you witless. There might be a neighbor that is using the same channel number as  your wireless.
This link explains what I mean to say.

That should help some. I hope.  :)
