HP Pavilion a810n frustrated over ethernet driver
    « on: April 10, 2016, 01:28:41 PM »
I know this is an old machine but I need to have it going.Loaded win 7 on it and it doesn`t find an ethernet net driver.
So I go look on the Hp drivers help site, someone shows a link for the sound and lan ethernet control drivers.
I tryed downloading it mind you I have transfer the drivers from a flash drive to the HP.But long story short I can not find a working ethernet driver for win 7 for this HP.
Can someone please help? Thanks in advance Aaron

Did you got to the HP site and download the drives for the system?  Remember to start with the chipset first then install the rest in the proper order.

Just get a new Ethernet card that has Win7 support for it...

    Nevermind...just saw it's a laptop.

Also I should say that I up graded the os from Vista 64 bit to Win 7.If I can not find a driver for 7 that supports lan I will have to format and go back to vista.I dont believe this machine will support 10 but I wont know unless I can get it connected to the net.

Do you happen to remember the make and model of the LAN card?  We could always try the manufactures web site and see if they have drivers.

From what I'm able to find online regarding that system the on-board chipset is a SiS900, which includes LAN capabilities. This would explain why Realtek drivers do not work. However I cannot find any driver software for it that is available for Windows Versions beyond Windows 2003. It appears the system came pre-installed with Windows XP.

Is the 3Com installed in the system? If so it was probably installed when the system was upgraded to Vista due to lack of driver support for the SiS900 on-board LAN.
The Windows 7 driver for the 3Com Etherlink 10/100 Network Card can be found here.

Di the OP try to get the chi set drivers? In LAN will be in the chip-set. Also, he can get an Ethernet to USB adapter for about $15 from vendors.

Go to this site and download the portable version.

          Code: [Select]
          http://www.astra32.com/download.htm
Uncompress the file run the file called astra32.exe

          On the left click Network

On the right side look for Adapter Name.

          Post the information.

My vote on this is ...
          Quote
get an Ethernet to USB adapter for about $15 from vendors.

They work perfect out of package and the drivers installed automatically on most.

StarTech and Edimax I have used both brands for wired and wireless USB NICs and no complaints. They worked perfectly fine, however the Edimax USB Wireless G required installation from a mini disc that came with it for drivers and wifi utility.

Here is a wired one that I have used with no problems: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812315001&cm_re=usb_nic-_-12-315-001-_-Product

I will try this option and if it doesnt work then I will try the other options below thank you all.
Yes the machine did come preloaded with XP and it also ran Vista 64 bit but was slow as heck.
Im hoping once Im able to connect this machine to the internet it will be some what faster
Im also not want to pour alot of $ into this machine just to make it work
Once again thanks and wish me luck.
