    PC Lag
    « on: July 14, 2016, 04:32:24 PM »
Hello, guys. I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place. I'll try to explain everything in detail.

Anyway, I'm having problems with my PC, it all started when I was playing a game (League of Legends, my PC can barely run it, and I think my hard drive was over-heating or something like that) after some time I heard some buzzing sound coming from my PC Tower it was pretty annoying, and it was going on for like 4-7minutes. I don't know where it was coming from (it seemed like it was from hard drive or video card) but I just didn't care about it until my FPS dropped to like 3-5 fps. Then I just immediately shut down the PC and turned it back on, then I tried to play the game again but my FPS was the same. So I took a break, didn't play any games for the rest of the day. The other day I couldn't play any games, my fps was like 3-7fps on all games. What's wrong with my PC? This happened like 2-3 weeks ago and I still got the same issue. Any ideas how to fix it? If it's necessary I can tell you my RAM, video card, etc.

I just found this forum and it's my last hope, please someone help me. I'd really appreciate it. If you need more information just ask.

The most obvious PC component the "buzzes" is the PSU...

I'd borrow a known good one from a Bud and swap it in there to test...

Will that help me fix my lag? I found a bunch of videos of buzzing sound coming from PSU on YouTube but none of them were like mine. It's like super loud. Also I had the buzzing sound only when I'm in game, or watch someone streaming on Twitch, or something like that. (I don't have it anymore when I'm in game since all my games lag and have like 3-7 FPS. However, when I'm browsing, or having so many programs open I still hear it sometimes but it usually lasts a couple of seconds and it's very very loud.

      Thank you for your reply.

Without more detail it is a guessing game.
Lacking test equipment, the standard diagnostic is by substitution. You substitute an old item with something new, You keep going until you have idolater the cause.
In your case, the following might be good list.
      Power Supply.
      DVD Drive.
      Video graphics.
      Hard drive.
      Network devices.
      RAM .
      Chassis fan.
      CPU fan and heat sink.
      Printer or scanner.
      Other external devices.
      Power cord.
      Electrical power strip.
      The mains voltage.

Any of the above has the possibility to cause strange behavior.  :o

Run speedfan and see what your temps look like. Additionally run the computer with the cover off and try to locate the specific location that the noise is coming from.

Your frame rate could be in the dirt if your CPU is running hot from a CPU fan thats chattering and not getting up to speed in which the CPU thermal throttles to avoid melt down and your performance takes a dive with it in this condition.

Thanks, I just downloaded Speedfan and opened it while I'm running a game but I got no clue what does this mean because I'm really bad at these kind of things with PC, please someone explain me. What should I do? Is it that bad? What's my next step?

By the way, I'm always running my PC without the cover.

The bearings in the fan may have failed, which would  explain the strange noises as well as why your graphics card is melting itself.

Yeah, the issue was my GPU. I changed it to the old one I used a while ago. The one I'm using right now is at 52C most of the time. It still shows that fire icon but at least I have no lag anymore and everything's all right for now.

You may wanna put that side cover back on to maximise your in case cooling...
Adding a fan or 2 is relatively inexpensive for a happy PC.
