Free Wi-Fi scanners - Find who is out there.
« on: July 22, 2016, 05:51:55 PM »
It has been awhile since this has been mentioned. The utility software with many Wi-Fi adapters is rather meager. Seldom does it help you know what is going on in your neighborhood. A good Wi-Fi scanner can help you to:
A. Locate hot spots near you.
B. Find what channels your neighbors use.
C. Identify wireless Internet Service in your area.

Here are five  that look good:
Acrylic WiFi (Windows)
AirGrab WiFi Radar (Mac OS X)
Cain & Abel (Windows)  << This site might be blocked.
Wireless Diagnostics (Mac OS X Lion and later)
WirelessNetView (Windows)

This is based on an article from Network World.

Do you use any of the above?  :)
