How do I log out of my gmail account?

Hello,

When I go to gmail.com it automatically directs me to my gmail account, which is great. But recently a friend of mine wanted to use my computer to log into his gmail account, but neither of us could figure out how to log out of gmail. I know that I am overlooking something, but how do you log out of gmail so that someone else can log in?

Assuming your account looks the same as mine - In the top right there should be a circle which will either have a letter or your profile photo in it, click this, there should be a "Sign Out" button in there.

What browser are you using?  Most modern browsers have a "Private Browsing" mode which is great for this, you open this mode and let the person using your PC use that, they won't be logged into any of your accounts and once they close it it will automatically log them out of anything they logged into.  This is also handy if you need to log into something on someone else's PC as it removes the risk of forgetting to log out of something!

The logout button is at the top of the page...unless they moved it again...

If a different browser is used by your friend, you would not need to sign out of your gmail account, assuming you are not signed in to it on that other browser.  This is probably due to each browser having separate cookies.
