Bogus browsing history in Chrome

I use Chrome in Windows 64 bit Vista.  The following happens way too often... I am in say Yahoo, left click an article, read it, then hold down my left mouse button on my "go back" button and find up to 20! browser history links that intend to keep me from going back to Yahoo in 1 click.  So, how do I prevent these bogus, redundant history links?

Let me improve the description of my problem.  I'm at Yahoo.com.  Let's say a I scroll down and find an article with title "School is out".  I left click it, article opens, I read, I then move my cursor to the upper left back arrow, hold down my left button and often find 2 to 20 redundant listings that refer to the page I just opened.  So in this made up example, I would see say 6 "School is out" historical listings and then a Yahoo listing.

I never use browser arrow tabs to navigate...Alt + left arrow = last page open...Alt + right arrow = forward to latest page ...I'm old school and tend to ignore toolbars etc...Plus keyboard commands are way quicker...

BTW ...they aren't "bogus" so to speak...they are yahoo cliks...mostly looking for ad revenue.

Are you using any Add-ons/Extensions in Chrome? Some of them have known issues that can result in this.

Alt-Left and Alt-Right invoke the same command as pressing the Back or Forward toolbar button, so if multiple entries are appearing in the drop down it is unlikely to behave any differently.

Well heck.  I've opened a Yahoo article, used the alt back arrow and the load redisplayed the same article.  I've now held my left arrow down on the browser back button and I see 3 redundant links to the article then Yahoo.

I've also experienced problems like this, but on a variety of websites! Anyone know what's going on? It's so frustrating having to abandon a tab because it keeps redirecting to the same page every time I try to go back.

I'm not sure you're talking about exactly the same issue as asdfghj.  But, I've experienced what you describe.  I am quite sure the problem is due to hostile tactics used by some web developers to try to keep you on a certain web page.  If I encounter one of those web pages when I'm am using Firefox, I can click and hold the mouse button on the back arrow and see a list of previously visited pages.  Then, while still holding the mouse button down, I can drag the mouse pointer down to any page in that list and release the mouse button on that page to go directly to it.

If it happens only on some sites, it's definitely a dodgy developer trying to do dodgy stuff with your browser's history for (usually) increased ad revenue.
It's very common on scammy sites, where developers try to monetize even users who "go back" after realizing how scammy the site they landed on is.
