New Board-Overclock Trouble

I just upgraded to an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe and an AMD 64 4800 dual core processor and I was checking out all the software that came with the board and I went into the Asus AI Booster and overclocked. The computer rebooted itself and now I can get to the xp welcome sign in screen, I can usually log into my profile and it shows my desktop but the windows taskbar is completely blank. Sometimes I can't login to my profile. The windows key doesn't help and ctrl-alt-del doesnt help. How do I turn this thing back down?

Press F8 before Windows loads and choose safe mode.

Remove AI Booster from there.

If an AMD 64 4800 dual core processor is not fast enough then you have a LOT more problems than overclocking.  

You can ruin a good system by playing with overclocking. It's your money, and maybe you have a lot to spare, though.

I don't get people who spend so much on the best, then feel the need to overclock it. If anything, overclocking should be done by those with cheap and slow components...

Actually, overclocking requires high-quality products.

You don't overclock to make your slow system fast, you overclock to make your fast system even faster.

But you shouldn't be overclocking when A) You use AI booster and crash Windows B) Have to come to Computerhope.com to get something resolved and C) Never check back.

Nowadays even the lower end graphics cards can overclock. And if it's already fast, why spend money getting custom cooling and rubish like that... you might as well just spend your money on the next model up.

MOST forums would encourage this chap to "feel the need for speed!" with the overclocking issue. I love hearing the common sense from you moderators and smarties, its refreshing !

Geniuses and idiots can both ruin good components by overclocking. It's their money, but it seems awfully stupid to me.

I tried overclocking an fx5700LE but didn't even notice any difference. I don't care how many extra frames I got; my games seemed to run the exact same to me.
