What do you mean by internet security though?
Antivirus?
Firewall?
Anti-spyware?
All of them?
You won't get one program that offers all of them for free.

I find that Spybot and Adaware do a good job, and Spyware Blaster to prevent it in the first place.
All free and available from the Software FAQ.
Hope this helps.

IMHO, anything lol.
If it's Norton Internet Security, it also includes a firewall.
I assume this means you already have Norton installed?
If I were you I'd use it till my license ran out and uninstall it using patio's "public service announcement" guide y see), then install AVG anti-virus, a selection of anti-spyware programs like the ones mentioned above, and Sygate Personal Firewall.
All free, and will keep your system very secure.

AVG free doesn't have a firewall, so I suggest Sygate Personal Firewall.
The combination of programs above will replace Norton and leave your system more secure and faster than with Norton.

Having never used Norton Firewall myself, I can't say.
It works great for me though, highly customizable, seems to be secure, and little resource usage so my system can run faster.
