Hello
I am having quite a nasty problem with my video drivers. It concerns the following game:
- Soldier Of Fortune 2
The game ran well in the past. I've played it a trillion times. But now, for some reason unknown to me, it chose to give me this error when I start the game:
"OpenGL Initialization Failure
OpenGL Initialization Failure. To play Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix, please verify that your card is OpenGL compliant. If it is, please update to the latest video drivers. See the readme.txt for more details."
followed by the following console output:
http://users.telenet.be/treval/txt/OpenGLerror.txt----------------
I believe this is happening ever since I launched Xfire. I don't know if it's related to Xfire. On startup of Xfire, it 'searches for installed games'.
Also, lately when I change screen resolution, Windows says I have to reboot. Why is this? I've never had to reboot to simply change resolution. Might be my video drivers, I don't know.
I've had normal nVidia drivers for my card installed in the past. Then someone recommended the 'optimized drivers' from 3Dguru.com. So I did, I installed the optimized drivers.
Anyway, main thing is, every time I launch this game, I have to reinstall my optimized graphics drivers and reboot. This is really unpleasant, especially when you're in a clan and have deathmatches at certain times, like me.
I tried to download and install the latest nVidia drivers for my card, from the official nvidia website (
www.nvidia.com), but no cigar. The game still gave me the same error.
However! (important)
When I reinstall the video drivers and reboot, the game runs fine for one or two times, but after the third time, blam, same error.
Someone told me that the game might be trying to find proper drivers, can't find them, overwrites my newer drivers, with its older drivers. Is that possible? Perhaps the games' error message is clearer.
Anyway I'm really stuck on this..
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Treval
p.s.: if anyone knows a link to a video driver cleaning tool? (to clean my system of the remnants of previous video driver installs. Might help)
