Computer won't start up
« on: August 16, 2007, 03:26:54 PM »
Whenever i try to start my computer, the fans and lights turn on, but nothing else.  The motherboard dosn't even beep like it use to. I know somthing is wrong inside, my brother took some memory out of it and i started it up and smelt somthing burning. It smelt like it came from the CPU but i'm not certain, and don't want to waste the money on it if thats not the problem. If you could please help me, i would be very thankful.

A few suggestions:
Borrow a known working PSU of the same wattage or greater and swap it into your machine to see if it boots.

Travel to crucial.com and enter your machine specs to see what RAM it takes.

Check what RAM is in there and match it to Crucial's specs/

Fire your Brother ...for the time being.
