Urgent help needed plzzz !!

hey guys i need ur help urgently....after i installed winxp on my hdd for some reason it rename the files located on my other hdd (the 2 hdd are connected together and canot work seperated dunno why) anyway one of my folders looks like the picture below ...this happend to me last time and i lost a lot of files after i scaned the disk so i still have the chance here as far as i dont run scandisk

P.S : all files rename the same whey trying to brows them from another o.s(knoppix)

What do you mean by that?

^that if i unplug the other one windows won't boot in :S but it was working all the time like this ...i just had problems when i reinstalled windows !

I think, this is the first problem, that should be solved, before anything else is done.
