KEYBOARD NOT TYPING
« on: December 12, 2007, 11:14:20 AM »
HELLO ALL!!

this happened 2 weeks ago and became already a serious and unfixable problem for me..., hope someone can help me, this is the story: i installed a program and 2min. later i decided to uninstall it, while the uninstallation process the computer gave me an error which i dont remember but then a pop-up displayed "successfully uninstalled" so i restarted windows, the problem begun here, since then the pc boots-up normally but when i press down any key to type my password the mouse's pointer gets completely freeze and nothing is been typed(all this in the "password" screen, it never gets access to windows) this with a PS/2 keyboard. I though the PS/2 connector was damaged or something so i changed the keyboard for an USB one, now the mouse pointer moves around ok but still cannot type a thing, therefore still can get into windows  >:(  , i tried already in SAFE MODE and going back to the last good config. but that didn't solve the problem, I CAN NAVIGATE THE BIOS AND MAKE CHANGES BUT IT SEEMS THAT THE LETTER KEYS DONT WORK.... the new keyboard works fine in other PCs.        HELP!!

And now the capslock is broke as well...
I would buy another PS2 keyboard...everyone should own one if only for emergencies such as this.

yes PATIO actually i tried already w/ 2 more PS2 keyboards and 1 more USB,

the same problem keeps happening but in 2 different ways, for example w/ the PS2 keyboards as soon as i press down a "letter" key the mouse gets freeze on the screen, with the USB keyb. the mouse doesn't freeze but the "letter" keys dont work as well....   :(

I've just been over to the VMware forums, and it seems there are quite a few posts regarding keyboard problems after either installing or uninstalling. I'll dig through here for a while and see what I can find.

Does your keyboard work OK in Safe Mode?

P. S. Turn off caps, please. It's hard to read.
