DEMOSHIELD PLAYER - HELP NEEDED ASAP, MUCH APPRECIATED!!

What is demoshield? Why does it keep giving me an error every time I try to install a computer game? Very frustrating as it never happened on my old computer now I have a new one and I only have problems. Any suggestions to help me? Your replies are much appreciated!! I looked online and found some suggestions like downloading QuickTime Player 7, which I did and it still didn't solve my issue!! Very frustrated!!

Demoshield is discontinued line of installer (by Macrovision), however some games may still use it.
I found this:

Some programs that use Macrovision's DemoShield in their installers may not install on Windows computers that have QuickTime 7.0 to 7.0.2 installed.

To resolve this issue, install QuickTime 7.0.3 or later before running an installer that uses DemoShield. iTunes 6 and 7 does include a later version of QuickTime.
