I noticed that quite a no. of ya guys still having problem with this pc judging from the pm i've received.

So i've taken the liberty of updating the driver links as the ones in an old thread was outdated already. Downloads galore...C&P from the old thread

ok here's the drivers for download...

m1641_sata_and_ethernet_controller_winx p
http://rapidshare.com/files/180283820/m1641_sata_and_ethernet_controller_winxp.rar

acer_audio_winxp
http://rapidshare.com/files/180280536/acer_audio_winxp.rar

acer_chipset_winxp
http://rapidshare.com/files/180263114/acer_chipset_winxp.rar

acer_vga_winxp
http://rapidshare.com/files/180272950/acer_vga_winxp.rar

1. integrate the sata raid driver into any winxp image (m using winxp sp2) using nlite (use text mode driver type) & burn the image into a cd using the driver in this archive m1641_sataraid_driver_and_ethernet_cont roller_winxp.rar

2. install winxp as u would normally

3. install display driver using this acer_vga_winxp.rar (of course after extracting this file)

4. install lan driver from this archive m1641_sataraid_driver_and_ethernet_cont roller_winxp.rar

5. install mobo chipset driver. get it from acer_chipset_winxp.rar. make sure to unselect display & nvidia storage driver as we have already installed the display in the 1st place, storage driver i dont use the raid controller anyway.

6. finally the audio driver in this archive acer_audio_winxp.rar

All drivers should install without any problems, after which you should have a working winxp os in this "vista certified" desktop. good luck

Try to limit the PMs to me coz i'm just providing u guys some links, i'm not some sorta pc technician or what not. Try to figure out things 1st b4 u decide to PM or post ok, you might even get it right then. Good luck!

cheers

Who is sending you PM's and why ? ?

I don't get it...

Could you be thinking of The Elder Geek thread by chance ? ?
That's another Forum.

do u need to know their names? nah... i dont think so...

Most probable reason is that the thread was already locked, and the drivers links were outdated. So, here...

Nope. The thread im referring to http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,62190.0.html

I have installed Windows XP on acer m1641, but the audio is not working. Tried different versions of Realtek HD audio including the one posted here. All gave installation error. I cannot delete the device to reinstall even though I have disabled it.

Anybody has an advice?

You could try to disable the audio in BIOS setup, then remove the installed driver in windows, enable audio in BIOS, then reinstall the audio driver. Donno whether this will lead to anywhere or not... Worth a try though

You could need Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio.

Thanks for both your replies. I have tried disabling from the BIOS, and also used the device provided by the link to install. Unfortunately both failed.  Sad
