Trouble installing Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio (sp32646)

When i try to install Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio (sp32646) it goes up to the point where it says "Microsoft UAA Bus Driver is preparing the install shield" then that goes away and nothing happens. My computer is a Compaq Presario V6126TU. I just installed windows xp professional on it, and it had windows home edition before that. If any more information is needed to help with my problem please ask me

Was it an upgrade from Home to Pro?
If so....

This M$ article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888111, says, you have to uninstall ver. 1.0 first, in order to install ver. 1.0a

yes i did. as far as i know i have everything i need except for UAA Bus Driver

Where are you getting that driver from? HP site? Did you try to re-download it?

yes i got it from the HP site, tried re-downloading it, and also tried getting it from somewhere else. still having the same problem.

Try to uninstall Conexant driver.
Now, try to install UAA.

I'm still having the same problem. i don't get an error message or anything. i looked in the process manager and the process just stops after it finishes preparing to install

Try Safe Mode. Maybe something is preventing this installation.
