i5 upgrade

So I just got a new i5 system and so far it is very nice. The RAM defaulted to 1066MHz and I am currently running test to find the lowest voltage it will run at, at 1333MHz. I will post 3d mark 06/vantage scores in a little while and then I will UNDER clock my CPU. No I'm not crazy I am just using the stock cooler right now so I want to make it as cool as possible until I get a third party cooler.

So what are your 3d mark scores?

Ok. It has been a month and I finally got everything done. After lowering the voltage on my CPU I decided to leave it at its stock speed because the temp was low enough.

*.944 volts goes to .952 under load.
**Shows how hot the hotest and coolest core gets in idle and under load.

So compared to my old system (I did not take the best of notes before selling it) it is an improvement but not by much. However in the real world testing I am seeing vast improvements in applications and games. So I guess the benchmarking tools don't always tell the best tail. But I would still like to know your guys' 3dMark scores.

thought I'd mention something about stock coolers.

The Stock cooler and the CPU it is included with are part of a set.
AMD and Intel put warranty's on that set. "Stock" has come to mean "crap" but in reality the Stock cooler is more then sufficient for the CPU at it's stock speeds. It wouldn't make sense to package an inferior cooler and have more warranty claims would it?

Additionally, I don't believe the CPU warranty extends to the use of third party coolers.

I did a passmark score when I first got this PC but I forget what it was. 800 or so, I think, not sure. Haven't run 3dmark.

One of the reasons you might be seeing better performance is if it's a clean installation of windows, it's amazing what a difference that can make.

I agree...
My Q6600 i decided to stick with the stock Intel cooler and i'm glad i did.
Even OC'd a bit my normal operating temps on the CPU run 33-35C....
After about an hour of a AutoCad session they may climb to 39C.

Which i'm real happy with.
