    Cannot reboot windows XP
    « on: December 16, 2009, 02:11:23 PM »
I am trying to get my daughters computer going. It had a problem and she ran boot disk & drivers, I connected to internet and tried up dating. It started updating and just quit up dating. I could not get it to finish updating and it did not act right. I tried running boot disk again and got system stopped c000021a fatal system error status 0x00000080  Every time i turn it on it says system starting and then same error. cant reboot cant do any thing.  HELP?

If you use that CD it will basically wipe ALL your data and apps and take the machine back to day 1 status...
Let us know if this is what you want to do...

If you're sure then put the CD in and power down the machine.
Power up and it should start the Recovery process...
If it does not then you need to re-boot...and Enter Setup...there will be a brief message at the bottom of the screen to tell you what key to hit to do so...
Once in setup look for a boot priority setting...move the CDRom to the 1st priority using the + - keys and/or up down arrows...
When it's set to CDRom 1st and HDD 2nd hit F10 to "save changes and Exit" and answer Y to the prompt....
The machine will now boot to CD 1st.

            Best of Luck.

I did the reboot and it said it was doing set up. then it said stop 000021a fatal system error status of 0x00000080 . I try to reboot now and it just says set up starting and gives fatal system error again. I can not get it to do any thing else. thanks

Did you do what Patio said?? In the set-up F2/F12 then select BOOT OPTIONS. uncheck your HDD and select FROM CD save then exit. Put your disc in and Power down then restart and it should pick-up from there........ ;D
