Attempting to use the (HP) Colorado Backup for 95 in Windows 98, Colorado Backup does not detect your tape drive.
This occurs when Microsoft Backup is currently installed or has been installed in the past. To resolve this issue:
After backing up the registry, ensure that Microsoft Backup is completely uninstalled from your computer: Click Start / Settings / Control Panel / double-click Add Remove Programs icon / Click the Windows Setup Tap / double-click the System Tools Icon and ensure that Backup check box is not checked. If this box is checked, uncheck it.
Delete the below files if they exist.
pnpwprop.dll
pnpwrenu.dll
pnpwfdc.inf
pnpwide.inf
pnpwppt.inf
pnpwtape.inf
pnpwtape.cat
Delete the below Registry Keys if they exist. If you need additional information on doing this, see the Windows registry help page.
REGISTRY KEYS
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/Class/Tape
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/Class/TapeController
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services /Class/TapeDetection
After the above keys have been removed from your computer, reboot the computer and ensure that the tape icons no longer exist. To do this, Click Start / Settings / Control Panel / double-click the System Icon / Click the Device Manager tab / In Device Manager ensure that there are no tape drive icons which are Grey (There may be Blue icons which are the tape drives installed when installing the Colorado Drive). If this icon exists, click the + next to the category and remove all devices beneath it.
Once the above steps are completed, reboot the computer and re-install the Colorado Tape Backup Software.
