Why is Windows not saving my Internet password and the box to save is grayed out?

If you experience this problem, File and print sharing for Microsoft Networks is not installed on your computer. To fix the problem, follow these steps.

  1. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, and double-click Network.
  2. Click Add and click Service.
  3. Select Microsoft, select File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks, and click OK.
  4. Reboot the computer and issue should be resolved.

If you perform the steps above, but are still prompted for a password, it could be that another user account set up the Internet. If so, try logging in as that user and repeat the steps above.
