Where can I get Internet access when away from my home or
work?
Answer:Users who leave their home and/or work for a vacation or other
reason may need to get Internet access while away. Thankfully, today
there are several different ways of getting connected to the Internet
while on the road; below are a few suggestions.
Library
Today, almost all libraries have one or more computers with
Internet access and allow users to browse the Internet for
research. Although many libraries will restrict actions such as
downloading and saving files and visiting particular sites, most
users should be able to do almost anything they need to do on the
Internet for free.
Internet / coffee shop
With the increased popularity and need of the Internet and
computers, there has been an increase of Internet shops dedicated to
browsing the Internet and/or playing games. In addition, many coffee
and other shops bring computers in to allow its users to browse the
Internet while eating or drinking.
Although some stores will offer this service for free to help
attract users, most charge a small fee every hour for use or require
you to purchase a drink or food before use.
Copy / printing stores
Printing and copying locations such as Alphagraphics, FedEx
Kinko's, etc. often also offer Internet access to users for a
minimal fee.
Wi-Fi hotspot
Wi-Fi has become a popular
method of attracting customers and is often a free way of accessing
the Internet. If you have a laptop with a wireless network card, you
can connect to these hotspots located all around the world. Today,
gas stations, truck stops, small shops, and even some fast food
stores offer Wi-Fi access.
