In some rare situations you may be unable to remove a device in Windows Device Manager using the standard steps. Make sure the device you are attempting to remove in Device Manager is not dependent on another device. For example, if you are trying to remove your sound card from Device Manager and encountering difficulties try skipping the sound device you are trying to remove and remove one of the other sound devices. If you still are unable to remove the device, try removing it under Safe Mode.
