What is the Graphic Window WR Combine in CMOS?

Question:

What is the Graphic Window WR Combin in CMOS?

Answer:

In the CMOS setup often under the AGP or Video section some users will have an option Graphic Window WR Combin, with the available options of Enable and Disable or may have a video cache mode for Uncacheable, Speculative Write-Combining (USWC) or Uncacheable (UC).

This setting enables the video card installed in your computer to buffer information moving between the processor and the video memory and send it as one write, instead of multiple small writes allowing your video card to work more efficiently. If your video card supports this mode you should Enable or set the video caching to USWC otherwise this mode should be set to UC or Disabled.

All recent video card will support this mode, if however you're encountering crashes caused by your video card and this option is available in your CMOS (BIOS) setup you may also wish to consider disabling this feature. Users can determine if the video card installed in the computer supports this mode by consulting the video card documentation.
