Why can I not access a web page or chat while at school or work?

Question:

Why can I not access a web page or chat while at school or work?

Answer:

There could be several reasons why you may be unable to access certain web pages such as MySpace or chat while at school and work. Often it relates to the security settings and access control your school or work administration has setup on the Network.

Computer Hope does not assist users in bypassing firewalls, security software, access controls, or any other security in place at your school or work. If you're having difficulty accessing a particular web site, blog, chat room, e-mail client, or other service on the Internet contact your work or school administrator for assistance.

Often these security measures are put on the network to help protect the employer or school from improper use of time and attempting to bypass the security measures can cause you to be fired or kicked out of school.
