What programs can I use to rip or copy audio CD's to my computer?

Answer:

There are several different software programs that are capable of copying (rip) the audio tracks from a CD and place them on your computer as a MP3, WMA, or other audio file format. Below is a listing of several different programs we suggest users try, each of the programs listed below are free to use programs.

Microsoft Windows Media Player

Users who are using Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, Vista, or later are already capable of using the pre-installed Microsoft Windows Media Player to rip sounds from their audio CD's to their computer. See document CH000970 for complete information about how to do this.

Apple iTunes

Apple computer users who are running a later version of Mac OS and/or any user (including users running Microsoft Windows) with an Apple iPod or iTunes installed on their computer are also cable of ripping their audio CD's using this program.
