How do I run a program as administrator in Windows Vista?
Question
How do I run a program as administrator in Windows Vista?
Answer
Windows Vista introduced UAC, which helps protect your computer by not allowing any program to have administrative rights unless properly granted. In some situations it may be necessary to run a program as administrator in order for that program to run or install properly or have all the capabilities that it needs. To run a program as administrator follow the below steps.
Note: You must be logged into an account with administrative privileges in order to follow the below steps.
Run a program as Administrator
- Right-click the program or shortcut you wish to run as administrator and choose the option Run as administrator
- Next, click Continue once prompted for your permission.
Additional information
- See the UAC definition for further information and related links.
