Accent mark

Accent marks are symbols used over letters, commonly vowels, to help emphasize the pronunciation of a word. Accent marks are commonly found in languages such as: French, German, Italian, and Spanish. Many English speaking users disregard accent marks and seldom use them; it is likely that most users have only had to use accent marks on the word "résumé."

  • Additional information about inserting accent marks in Microsoft Word can be found on document CH000657.
