Cartridge

Cartridge may refer to any of the following:

1. In general, a cartridge is a container designed to hold an item or substance. For example, a bullet used with a gun has a cartridge that holds the bullet and the propellant (e.g., gunpowder) to fire the bullet.

2. A ink cartridge is a disposable container containing liquid ink for an inkjet printer. See our ink cartridge page for further information on this term.

3. When discussing a laser printer, a toner cartridge is a cartridge containing the toner used when printing.

4. With game console, a cartridge is another name for a ROM cartridge containing the code for a game and any saved games.

5. With memory, a cartridge is a small container containing memory that can be inserted into a computer, digital camera, and other device as a storage device. See our memory cartridge page for further information.

6. When describing fonts used with printers, a font cartridge is a cartridge containing memory that stores font information on how to print a particular font. See our font cartridge page for further information.

7. With tape drives, a disk cartridge is the cartridge containing the tape that stores data. QIC (quarter-inch cartridge) is an example of such a cartridge.

8. When describing a processor, the SECC (single edge contact cartridge) was a cartridge use some Intel Pentium II and III processors to allow processors to be easily connected to the motherboard.
