CompTIA

Initially founded in 1982 as ABCD (Association of Better Computer Dealers), today, CompTIA is short for Computer Technology Industry Association. CompTIA is a non-profit trade association dedicated to advancing the growth of the IT (information technology) industry and the advancement of those working within it.

CompTIA certifications

CompTIA is most well known for its A+ and N+ (Network+) certifications but also has the following certifications available:

• CASP+ - The highest level of certification offered by CompTIA. CASP+ certification indicates a technical knowledge and skill to conceive, design, and engineer secure solutions in an enterprise.
• Cloud+ - Introduced in October 2013, the Cloud+ certification covers cloud computing and virtualization.
• CTT+ - The Certified Technical Trainer has demonstrated skills with tools and techniques necessary to teach individuals and groups technical subjects (applications, etc.). The certification stops being offered after September 2023, but certified people retain their certification for life.
• CySA+ - First introduced in February 2017 as CSA+, the CySA+ certification is for cybersecurity analysts.
• Data+ - Introduced in February 2022, the Data+ certification focuses on data mining.
• Linux+ - Also known as the XK0-004 exam, the Linux+ certification covers the Linux operating system.
• PenTest+ - First released on July 31, 2018, the PenTest+ covers risk analysis, threat detection, penetration testing, and ethical hacking.
• Project+ - Project management certification was introduced in 2001 after CompTIA acquired "IT Project+."
• Security+ - Computer and network security test that builds on the network knowledge gained from the Network+ certification.
• Server+ - First introduced in 2001, the Server+ certification covers server hardware, operating systems, and support.
