Consultant

A consultant is an individual who advises a company or individual, or is temporarily hired by a company. Consultants often are hired at a higher rate of pay, but do not get benefits. They can either be let go at any time or have a set date when they are let go.

Consultants often are highly skilled in a particular field or job that only requires them to work for a short time. For example, a network consultant may be hired to help set up a network and make sure it is running before being let go. They may also be called in to help resolve a complex network issue.
