Consultant

A consultant is an individual who advises a company or individual or is temporarily hired by a company. Consultants often are hired on at a higher rate of pay but do not often have benefits and can either be let go at any time or have a set date when they will be let go.

Consultants often are highly skilled in a particular field or job that only requires them to work for a short period of time. For example, a network consultant may be hired to help a company setup their network and make sure it is running before being let go and/or may be called in to help resolve a complex network issue.
