DASD

Also known as a DAS or Direct Access Storage, DASD or Direct Access Storage Device, is used to describe any type of disk storage that is directly connected to the computer. For example, an internal disk drive or an external disk drive connect through an interface such as USB or Firewire are considered DAS.

Unlike NAS, if the computer is turned off all storage devices connected to that computer will become inaccessible.
