Depress

When referring to a button, depress refers to the act of pressing down upon the button. For example, in the Acer X243H user manual to remove the monitor from the base, it says: "Depress the release button as indicated first before removing the base and follow the arrow direction to remove it." This means to press down hard on the button and then push the base away from the monitor.
