EAP

Short for Extensible Authentication Protocol, EAP is defined in RFC 3748 and is a general authentication protocol commonly used with PPP (point-to-point protocol) and wireless networks. EAP can support multiple authentication instruments, such as public key encryption, smart cards, one-time passwords, and certificates.
