Different from spam, graymail is bulk e-mail delivered to an address that had subscribed or opted to receive messages due to past interest in the subject. However, as time passes, the mailbox owner becomes less interested and reads fewer of these messages until they clutter the inbox. Because the user once had an interest in a product or service, they may be reluctant to unsubscribe. Essentially, although graymail is often a contributing factor to a cluttered inbox, because the user opted to receive the e-mail, it is not considered spam.
