Hotplugging

A feature first introduced into Linux kernel 2.4 in January of 2001 that enables the user to connect, disconnect, and reconnect hardware devices to their computer without having to reboot the computer and/or reconfiguring the device that was connected. Today this feature is found with all GNU/Linux distributions.
