Housekeeping

When referring to computers, housekeeping is a term used to describe the optimization of a hard disk drive. Housekeeping commonly involves removing old or unused files, removing programs no longer being used, backing up data, or running disk utilities such as a scandisk, defrag, or a virus scan. Housekeeping is meant as a way to help keep the computer organized and running properly and should be performed at least once a year.
