Short for Internet Movie Database, IMDb was first started by Col Needham and others as a popular Usenet newsgroup on October 17, 1990 as a place to exchange and share movie information. IMDb was later moved to a website after registering for a domain on January 5, 1996 and became one of the most popular locations to locate any information relating to movies. In 1998 it was purchased by Amazon.com. Today, you can find everything related to almost every movie, actor, actress, TV show and much more.
